2012 BLM BALD EAGLE HIKES. The Bureau of Land Management Ukiah Field Office has just announced the schedule for this year's series of guided hikes, which will take place every Saturday (weather permitting) from mid-January through late February, starting from the Cache Creek Management Area parking lot (off Hwy 20 approximately ten miles east of Clearlake Oaks) at 10AM. BLM natural resource specialists will lead four-mile hikes into the Cache Creek Natural Area, where eagles, tule elk, osprey and other wildlife may be seen. Spaces are limited and advance reservations are REQUIRED, so don't wait too long to sign up. Participants should wear sturdy hiking boots, dress for cold weather, and bring water, lunch and binoculars. Call the BLM Ukiah office at 468-4000 to reserve. Sat, Feb 11. Noon to 4 pm : Wine and Chocolate An extensive offering of ultra-premium Lake County wines and this year, local beer brewers...paired with luscious chocolates by Sommelier Stephanie Green, owner of Focused on Wine in Kelseyville. Green will lead workshops on wine sensory and pairing food with wines and a variety of other classes and demonstrations will be held, such as olive ol sensory, chocolate demonstrations, and viodynamic vineyards.
