Being Green at Backyard Garden Oasis
We created the Oasis to be a perfectly beautiful, peaceful sanctuary, existing in harmony with the earth, enhancing its beauty, and reveling in its bounty. The cottages were designed to be private, and energy efficient with excellent insulation and double-paned windows. These conserve energy for the remote controlled fireplaces and air conditioning and also provide sound-proofing.

Beginning in 1997, when the Oasis first opened, they have recycled, and, using organic techniques, grown as much of their own food as possible. Greta is an avid gardener, she writes, “raising my own food has been a joy and a challenge for over 30 years. I started with a window box planted with radishes and I was hooked. I have made the Oasis’s organic garden to be a place where guests are free to wander... to sample ... to learn ... to experience ... to pull weeds if they want to really experience the earth, and the bountiful landscaping of trees, flowers, and plantings.” Guests also enjoy the fruits of these labors in the organic produce taken directly from the garden and then used in their delicious breakfasts.

Our Property and Surrounding Area
Backyard Garden Oasis is located in the Collayomi Valley on the Northern slope of Mt. St. Helena in Napa Valley. The land here is among the most pristine in the area, with much of the original forests remaining and clear and clean running creeks. A huge Manzanita grove on our property is home to hundreds of California Quail. Some of our many property features include – an open-air hot tub, a waterfall, a pond, groves of trees, a large lawn ... we have a full size croquet set available ... a sacred circle tree, and lots of outdoor lounging areas. Everywhere you look you will find beauty and scenic areas, especially at the Oasis and on the drives to nearby Middletown or Calistoga. There are too many local attractions to list here but we have included quite a few for you on our attractions page.

Your Hostess Greta

Your gracious hostess, Greta, has many years of experience as both a Massage Therapist and an Innkeeper. Greta’s philosophy is to intrude as little as possible on her guests while also being available for, conversation if desired, to provide fabulous breakfasts, maps and other sight seeing assistance, and to provide whatever else might be needed for a unique and memorable experience. Our Guests
Our guests come from all walks of life and we welcome all who wish to come and be here in this respectful place. We built the Aquarius cabin to be ADA compliant and wheelchair accessible. We have been fortunate enough to have had some truly extraordinary people come visit and stay with us here, some of whom you can meet here on our friends page. Wireless High Speed Satellite Internet Service

While many people can access wireless internet in their cabin, other can't, depending on their wireless card. Satellite service is really slower than High Speed, but better than dial-up. It is always available in the main house or on the beautiful deck at the main house.
